Dr. Seuss The Lorax Kids Craft Activity with Truffula Trees

With the popularity of the classic Dr. Seuss book and movie The Lorax, craft activities featuring the Lorax character and colorful truffula trees is a fun way for kids to learn about the book and celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

the lorax kids craftThese Lorax kids crafts were definitely inspired by fun ideas found on Pinterest, but they actually came from my daughter’s Kindergarten enrichment class.

The kids made these crafts in preparation for “Dr. Seuss Day” to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2. The colorful truffula trees featured in The Lorax makes it a fun book to create crafts from the Dr. Seuss collection.

How to do this Project

tissue paper truffula treesCreating these truffula trees is fun and easy. To make the tall trees you’ll need to collect toilet paper rolls and paint them a green color. Then, tape together the with colored tape to create the “rings” around the tree.

The top of the tree is made out of different colors of tissue paper and simply stuffed into the top of the toilet paper roll. Kids can have a lot of fun re-creating this craft and designing their own truffula trees.

Other craft projects featured in my daughter’s class included a flat wall version of the truffula trees where the tree base is pieced together with pieces of construction paper and tissue dr seuss the loraxpaper truffula trees are taped on top.

I also really liked the Lorax character that the kids created greeting everyone at the door.

You gotta have the Lorax character with the big crazy mustache included next to your truffula trees… because he does speak for the trees!
